I haven’t had stewed apples in years, but they’re one of the foods advised on the beginning of the GAPS diet so I decided to stew some up today and add them to my diet.
However, I added a little twist and made them into a jelly. It turned out great and is really, really good. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 6 Large apples
- Juice from half a lemon
- Water
- Ground Cinnamon
- 1 large dessertspoon of honey
- 2 dessertspoons of gelatin
Peel, core and chop apples into chunks
Put apples, lemon juice and about 1 cup of water into a pan, bring to the boil and then simmer until apples are soft.
Remove from the heat and add cinnamon to taste, the honey and the gelatin.
Mix thoroughly then leave to cool. Once cool place in the fridge to set.
Serve on it’s own, or with yoghurt, pure cream or Kefir.
Enjoy!
