Today I thought today that I would talk about my latest love…
Arborvitae essential oil!
I’m not quite sure how to pronounce it yet, but at least I know I’ve spelled it right!… 🙂
Take a look at the video below to learn about how this beautiful oil is sourced.
So I’ve seen lots of folk talking about this oil in the various Facebook groups I’m a member of, and I was more than curious.
I think the name intrigued me…
Also, it seems that some people really dislike the smell. So I wasn’t expecting to like it.
But I do! I absolutely love it.
So What IS Arborvitae Essential Oil?
Arborvitae is Western red cedar. Who’d have guessed…
We just realized that little fact tonight. Doh!…
Last night I was showing it to my son and my daughter-in-law, and they were smelling it and we all agreed that it was really familiar.
And so I was looking at my books tonight before, and hubby said it smells like the Cedar we used on our house we built years ago in Australia.
Then we realised it is in fact, Western Red Cedar! That’s why it was familiar!
So Western Red Cedar trees are huge trees that are native to Canada and some areas of the United States.
The other name is Thuja. I know Thuja as a homeopathic remedy that’s commonly used for plantar warts.
So when I ordered this oil, I just ordered it because I didn’t have it and I was curious. It had truly sparked my curiosity and my inner guidance was obviously making me take notice. So I added it to my last order.
And when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find that I LOVE the smell! I wasn’t expecting that. And then when I took a look at what it said in the Emotions & Essential oils book, it all made sense.
Arborvitae Is The Oil Of Divine Grace.
Arborvitae assists individuals who believe or act like all progress must be made through struggle and solitary effort. Instead of trusting in the Divine, these individuals unconsciously block divine aid, choosing instead to live by their own efforts.
This amazing oil addresses the need to control one’s outcomes in life, inviting individuals to live with peace and joy by trusting in the abundant flow of divine grace.
When I read emotional aspects of this oil, I realised how absolutely perfect it was for me and how much I probably need it…
I need it because that’s always been me, struggling and believing that I have to do everything by myself, never trusting in anything or anyone to bring anything to me or to help me.
Arborvitae is a grounding oil, teaching that Divinity is all around. God’s grace can be felt and experienced here on earth.
Arborvitae’s Latin name means ‘to sacrifice’ and this oil invites individuals to sacrifice their personal wealth and Ambitions for a far more fulfilling way of living.
By surrendering to God, the mind relaxes and the Soul experiences harmony and peace.

So what I’m finding is that the intuitive part of me is becoming stronger and stronger. I notice evidence of that on a daily basis. I’m finding that the oils, as well as other things in my life that that I’m drawn toward, are perfect.
So let’s have a look at the physical uses for Arborvitae. According to Modern Essentials this oil is:
- insect repellent
- stimulant for nerves, immune system & uterus muscles.
Historically it’s been referred to as the tree of life and used by ancient civilizations to enhance their potential for Spiritual communication during rituals and other ceremonies, so it’s an amazing essential oil for meditation.
Arborvitae is calming and grounding and enhances spiritual awareness.
What I personally have found is that when when I put it on my skin, the aroma stays for hours. I put some on the first morning that I got it. I’d washed my hands several times, but then I was working with a client at work and she said to me “you’ve got herbs on your hands”. She could smell the woody aroma that was still lingering a couple of hours and several hand washes later.
